Air Terjun Blue Nil , Ethiopia

Blue Nile Falls is a waterfall in the Blue Nile in Ethiopia. They are known as Tis Issat in Amharic, when translated, means "water smoke" They are located in the upper river, about 30 kilometers downstream from the town of Bahir Dar and Lake Tana. Fall is considered one of the best tourist attractions of Ethiopia are known.


Fall is estimated between 37 and 45 meters high, consisting of four rivers that varied from droplets initially in the dry season to more than 400 yards in the rainy season. Regulation of Lake Tana is now slightly reduce the variation, and since 2003 hydro-electric station has a lot of flow out of the fall except during the rainy season. The Blue Nile Falls, Lake Tana have isolated ecology of ecology from the rest of the Nile, and this isolation has played a role in the evolution of endemic fauna of the lake.
Not far downstream from the falls sits the first stone bridge was built in Ethiopia, which was built on the orders of Emperor Susenyos year 1626. According to Manoel de Almeida, a stone to make lime was found nearby along alata colony, and a craftsman who came from India with Alfonso Mendez, the Catholic Patriarch of Ethiopia supervised construction.
