White

White is a London gentlemen club, founded at 4 Chesterfield Street in 1693 by Italian immigrant Francesco Bianco (AKA "Francis White"). Originally founded to sell hot chocolate, becoming scarce and expensive at that (and the source of the original title "Mrs. White's Chocolate House"). This "chocolate houses" seen as a hotbed of dissent by Charles II, but many converted into a fashionable and respectable men's clubs such as White.

As a side business, which sold tickets there for the productions at the King's Theatre and Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

In 1778 moved to 37-38 St James, on thethe east side of of the road. From 1783 it was the unofficial headquarters of the Tory party, Brooks's Club Whig 'was at the end of the road. An apolitical and friendly little guy managed to belong to both. New architecture featuring a bow window on the ground floor. In the later 18th century, the table directly in front of a special chair, the throne of the most influential social person in the club. It belongs elegantiarum arbitrator, Beau Brummell, until he moved to the Continent of Europe in 1816, when Lord Alvanley take the place of honor.
