In captivity, this species feeds on a variety of foods including live brine shrimp, frozen meat and spirulina, seaweed sheets and pellets. The food was simple.
The flame angelfish aquarium known to shy at well-established introduction (especially the smaller specimens) but within a week will gain confidence and then continually seen grazing in the vicinity of live rock in the afternoon. Will fight with other fish if challenged for space or stored with the same species (pygmy angel) in a small tank. Some texts suggest that this should be an additional end of the tank.
This is found in many coral Oceania, most common in Marshall, Line, and the Cook Islands. This fish is also, though rarely, found on the islands of Hawaii.
